The golden arrow from the archery contest had just the right amount of gold

Doctor Who has so many Deus ex Machina moments like this that I've come to expect it. Frankly, I'm almost disappointed when things work out in a more normal fashion.

I'm also LOVING Capaldi in the role. He has a few more episodes to put his flair on The Doctor but where he's taking it is great so far.

when the heck did he manage to make them? And with what?

the doctor has been known for ages to have pockets that are bigger on the inside. I'd assume the suggestion is that he got them from there. I believe that started with the second or third doctor, but you probably noticed similar things with Tennant and Smith, so I'd say that's still a thing.

I thought it was too.. fairy-tale-ish. It sort of bothered me. I know that's the way the show's been headed lately a lot of times but it still annoys me a bit.

Also, I thought it was funny that it was definitely a (subtle) fuck you to all the people who wanted a Sherlock crossover. They wrote in sherlock holmes to the canon and then threw in a character from another fictional story. Nice.

The episode was fun, but the science was awful (The firing the gold arrow into the side of the spaceship).

Ben Miller was incredibly delightful as the Sheriff, reminded me of the classic Master, and I would love to see him in that role.

I loved Robin's farewell quote of, "You find it hard to believe that a man of wealth and status could give that up to help poor and oppressed..." (those aren't the exact words, quoting from memory. But if you saw it, you should recognize it).

Remember the chalk drawings in Deep Breath and again on the chalkboard in Into the Dalek? Correct me if I'm wrong but this was the first episode where we didn't see him working on calculations, right?

Any idea what those are all about?

Actually, I think you're right. I should probably watch the episode again too...for science. Or something.

I enjoyed it because I made new friends a few nights before that episode and they invited my entire family over to cook out, drink beer, and watch it with them. :)

I enjoyed the change of pace too. Deep Breath and Into the Dalek were a bit darker and the banter and Merry Men provided some balance to the previous two episodes.
