Following the proposal for new rules regarding sites embedding 3rd party content, the following rule is added to our ruleset:
- Links to external sites embedding 3rd party videos, i.e. sites that do not host the videos themselves, are only permitted if the linked site follows the rules for embedding sites.
These rules for embedding sites are as follows:
The embedding site must serve something of greater value that legitimizes the indirection, e.g. a usable and somewhat comprehensive dictionary of deepfakes or an active forum of members that produce content.
No popup ads. This applies to the video page and directory etc. Everyone hates those and they severely detract from user experience.
No ads on top of the video player. Playing the video shouldn't require guessing which of the twelve "Close Ad"-buttons is the real one.
The video must be immediately visible upon opening the site, no scrolling.
If known, the video site must state the original deepfake creator.
No additional watermarks.
Post authors must disclose any affiliation with the linked site in the comments.
Rephrased rule 1 to emphasize the need for a useful feature that legitimizes the indirection.

In order to enforce these new rules and to make flair assignment, which is still not automatic, faster, we could really use the help of some community members willing to take the role of janitor for this subverse and /v/FaceSets. Janitors are tasked with the following:
Remove posts that violate our ruleset. Especially rule 4 might bring some additional maintenance work. Please make sure to check the linked site before removing posts. If the site hosts the video itself, i.e. the video URL points to a location on their own domain and not to erome, sendvids or a similar 3rd-party hoster, rule 4 does not apply.
Assign flairs to new posts. Consult this post for more information.
As /u/JeromeWalker pointed out, only posts violating the ruleset may be removed. Finding a post distasteful or disagreeing with points of views expressed by its author is not a valid reason for removal.
Voat is NOT LIKE REDDIT where every comment or post can be removed at the random whims of any mod. The mod team will not promote any specific 3rd party site or remove content they dislike if it doesn't violate the minimal ruleset.
