Does this mean America Photobombed ISIS?

Yes, I know, blatantly stolen joke, I know.

Did the recon group in Florida discover the location by observing the surroundings, or did they use the EXIF data from the picture to find the location? Either way, this is some "worlds dumbest criminals" stuff, here. A selfie got multiple people killed and the HQ destroyed. If he wasn't killed in the subsequent bombings, I bet he was put to death by his former comrades.

I'm not sure if it was the case in this specific instance, but in the past there have been incidents of ISIS members forgetting to turn off the geotag or location services. From the way the article describes, they most likely used another source to verify the location.

Yeah I read the article and it was awfully vague as to how it obtained the location. It just says the recon guys were "eagle eyed", which kind of hints at maybe observing the surroundings. I understand the reason for the vagueness, though.
