oh, should i elaborate? The diy subs on reddit are active and do a pretty good job of keeping the conversations away from politics. Having subs like that become active on voat will really help everything, since right now almost everything is political/fph/pg or low traffic. This could be helped a lot with "other discussions" a la reddit, but that hasn't been implemented yet.

For those wondering, it's a 5.7L Hemi with dual sparkplugs.

I had an old ranger with the twinspark lima. Really confused the parts shop guy when I told him I had an i4 ranger and needed 8 spark plugs for it.

Exhaust and intake plugs? A ford/mazda engine comes to mind.

The extra plug fires during the power stroke to more fully burn the hydrocarbons. The second ignition allows additional power in the down stroke while lowering the need for restrictive catalyst plates in the converter.

The Ford Ranger was the first thing that came to mind with me. On this, the second plug shares a coil pack with the opposite cylinder.

i'm pretty sure it is just 2 spark plugs for more coverage, since the cylinders are larger. I guess it would add some level of redundancy as well, and it's pretty much "free" for the carmaker.

HPOP would know what to do with that many old spark plugs.

In my younger days, I found them useful for breaking car windows.

That doesn't actually work. Atleast not on newer cars. I had this exact fight with a coworker the other day and he was adamant it worked. And I told him it doesnt. I have tried and failed. Repeatedly. So we took a spark plug and a window out of a used door from a Ford focus. Musta thrown 3 handfuls worth of porcelain a good 10 times at the window before he conceded and I got to smash the window with an air hammer.

As soon as I read this I new it wasnt a Ford. Old ass fords (90s-200?) have some bitch ass coils to take off and some of those plugs are hard to reach, and even worse if you break them because they have these split cases. etc... etc.. FORDS.. I love them, but FUCK YOU.

Aircraft reciprocating engines have used dual spark plugs and dual ignition systems for ever. For the pre-take off engine check you run the engine up to about 1200 RPM and shutdown one mag and watch the RPM drop. Then you bring both mags back on line and watch the RPM increase. Then you shut down the other mag and watch the RPM drop. Both mags being cut out should yield about a 50-100 RPM Drop with no rough running. In Aircraft reciprocating engines dual plugs and ignitions systems are for power and not for Safety. However it's nice to know that if you lose a plug the results won't be disastrous.

Naw. I think it's because Voat doesn't see non-political posts very often. Also, 16 spark plugs is quite a bit.
