Well, that's embarrassing; I didn't know you were Voat's CSS artist-in-residence. First things first, great job on making everything look so clean and inviting! Contrast aside, I love how things look here, and since I'm in night mode full-time now it's not even an issue anymore.
And you're definitely right about having a look that is easy to work with and around... it's forgiving enough that I was able to cobble something together after all ;)
Your explanation for IDs and classes was perfect, because it was succinct without me feeling like I'm missing some esoteric coding terminology. I've been a member of Voat for ~4 days now, and I keep running into intelligent and helpful people. I'll definitely start playing with using the F12 function now that I know it's there. More computer literacy is always a good thing. And I'll make sure to come back here when I have more questions, for the good of Voaters everywhere! Thanks a million!

Thanks! Yep, contrast is on the to-do list for the next few tweaks, now that quite a few people mentioned it. Though, I'm glad that @Atko suggested I make a dark theme alongside the main design because it probably saved a lot of users who didn't like the default light theme.
I learned most of what I know by testing out things and researching a few things I don't know, so I guess you can call me street-trained. I just thought that complete CSS tutorials were pretty boring past the first few lessons. Whether or not you feel you learn better my way or by the book, good luck on your journey either way.
You're welcome! Now, go out there and have some fun. :-)
