It's amazing people get worked up about this. The decision is mostly made by dads who feel OK with how their penis works and want their kid to have the same be it circumcised or not. It's not some conspiracy to mutilate babies genitals. I can't believe there's a group of people wasting their time on this. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen or something.

Not any more - like you say it's more cultural inertia than anything else these days - but it absolutely started out, not as a conspiracy as such, but as a puritanical attempt to reduce masturbation.

Agreed. I would hesitate to use the word mutilation. It's cleaner and I have never once heard a circumcised male say that they felt violated or mutilated. A worthless argument

OK, well today you have. It really does bother me to think that I had no choice in the matter. A part of my body was forcibly removed against my will. No it may not be the end of the world, it doesn't make me have nightmares or anything. I think the idea that performing involuntary and most of the time unnecessary modification of anyone's body in any way is barbaric, and shouldn't be considered normal

I feel mutilated.

your reasoning is a little basic here man. Thats like saying "ive never seen a woman be raped" as evidence rape doesnt happen.

How do you know it's cleaner if it was removed in infancy? Your position makes no sense. You cannot argue the benefits of removal if you have no cognizant experience of it being any other way. It's merely conjecture and speculation based on opinion.

You may hesitate to use the word but its absolutely fair to use it in this context.

""To disfigure by damaging irreparably"" Sounds exactly like what's happening to me, without the conscious decision of the person to which it happens.

It is mutilation though. Have you ever seen one performed? Holy shit, it's crazy.

Also, I don't think parents should be making that decision for their kids. Your argument that dads get their sons cut because they are happy with what they have is just silly - so just because dad go cut, he's going to have a medically unnecessary operation performed on his son? No only is it unnecessary, it can cause problems like scarring, reduced sexual pleasure, and so on. It really needs to stop being a norm.

I know you're being serious, but this just doesn't sound right. From what I've learned over the years, it's women who push for circumcision, justifying it because it "looks better" or "it's healthier" or "it's tradition." I'm pretty sure men are generally against a doctor taking a knife to the tip of a dick.

The way I see it, it's pretty cut and dry (sorry, I couldn't resist..): male circumcision and female circumcision are equally terrible, and are both genital mutilation.

Here's a (very) critical thought:

After spending years on 4chan listening to idiots argue about this topic, I think there are no strong positives or negatives for either side of the debate. Therefore, if it makes some ideological person feel better, let them do what they want as long as it isn't hurting anyone. Just means less people arguing about fluff, when there's real issues to be thinking about.

My opinion is don't perform a procedure unless it's medically necessary. They say circumcise because it will prevent future problems, but the same also applies to removing tonsils and the appendix. Both are not necessary for survival and they have the potential to kill you. I would ask if we should also remove those, because that will prevent medical issues involving those.

If you want to remove it, fine remove it when your over the age of 18 and have a choice.

I was circumcised as a baby and don't remember my penis any other way. I've had no problems and it works just fine, so I'm wondering what the fuss is all about now. Maybe this non-issue is just another anti-vax thing. People just want to bitch.

Consider: causality. Also, perhaps selection bias.

My only source is experience. I've only been with two uncircumcised men. But I've contemplated this before, and my theory is that a foreskin creates more natural friction, so less "jack hammering" is required. But, I'm not a guy, so my theory could also be bullshit.

You were born a certain way (for now) for a reason. Why? Because Nature is relentless in its pursuit for what's efficient, it favors that one characteristic(s)/mutation(s) which will produce consistent results time and time again. If it doesn't work or it's not favorable - looking at you albinos - (with all variables being equal) it is bound to disappear. A prepuce - yes both men and women have it - is just one of those characteristics..

I can appreciate someone who's middle-eastern heritage or religion doing this. Muslims, Jews or whatever some middle-eastern family heritage. I'm not saying its 'good' but just saying I can kinda respect religious/cultural symbolism.

Why the hell white people in the USA do this is a fucking head-scratcher. I dont get that. weird.
