If we are causal creatures because we come from a causal universe,
and decisions can cause us to suffer, or our life to end,
then we are able to defeat the causal nature by choosing against the cause and effect cycle.

Or, is it just our lack of knowledge and understanding?

if we don't have all the information, we can chose the correct cause to perpetuate our own life?

The first instance "proves" free will. The second instance "disproves" free will.

So the question really is, how do we define free will? It's not about whether free will intrinsically exists or not, it's about how we understand free will.

Free will is just a concept to guide us in our understanding of everything. Since it is a tool, it must exist, whether as a fabricated concept of a developing mind, or intrinsically.
