His financial aid was dependent on his participation. So, yeah, I suppose you're technically right. He could have walked away from "free Harvard" at 18. I'm sure no one would have criticized that decision if he wound up doing all the same stuff.

Does not say anything about being forced to be apart of the study. So he subjected himself to the abuse, along with the other people in the class.

Hmm interesting. Looking at it todays perspective thats like a 100k "research study" very hard to pass up.
