Cosmic rays will be blamed for all voting machine glitches, allowing a return to paper ballots. Excellent!

This reminds me that when our AI systems control important decisions, errors from cosmic rays may lead to much worse than just a blue screen of death. I'm wondering if quantum computing is more, or less, vulnerable to this kind of error. Seems intuitively that the butterfly effect may make a small error cause a dramatic problem in a quantum computer but maybe this is completely wrong and quantum computing is more robust (errors have less of a tendency to propagate).

We're bang in the middle of a Maunder Minimum. We've got the lowest levels of solar activity seen in decades. Keep calm, citizens.

I'd like to add a bit more depth to this thread too, so:

Obama signed an executive order for "space weather". If they are trying to hide this from us, they are not doing a good job. WH blog post.

The earth will soon be swept by extraordinary rapid waves of Cosmic Electricity. A few decades from now beings who are bad and lead others astray will not be able to support their intensity.

So.. if the size of the transistor package indicates higher failure rate, why does the graph not coincide with that? I realize there are no numbers on the axis for failure rates, however the bottom usually indicates 0 while the top indicates whatever maximum number is designated. The whole conclusion of the article doesn't match the graph.

Fascinting. Crazy to think it's happening I'm small doses and the general public will not be aware until a major error
