Hi redditbelowsme,
As discussed, I wanted to provide feedback on the /v/CoastToCoastAM subverse.
I love it!
I love the service you are providing because it is essential to so many people!
That said, I am about to be hyper-critical only because I value the subverse you created and I feel compelled to be sincere and honest about my first impressions. Please understand that I consider the subverse to be made of pure awesome and want only to provide constructive criticism.
Also understand and I appreciate that my opinion is only my opinion and you are welcome to take a huge shit on... I have thick skin so feel free express your bowel moment.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I only visited /v/CoastToCoastAM for the first time a few weeks ago, so I still recall my first impressions. Firstly, I was excited that the subverse was already created.
Warning-constructive-criticism-ahead: I was perplexed about what the banner image represented. I presume it's a radio broadcasting station or a radio telescope of some sort, but I'm still unsure how it relates to C2C.
I love the star-background beneath the post bars and I like the transparent grey background under the post bars that allows the start to be slightly visible.
I like the populated side-bar because it's full of cool stuff, however I think it would look neater if all of the clickable logos were the same width. Perhaps some consistent white space between them would make them seem more individual and logically discrete?
SUGGESTIONS
I've already mentioned this in a comment reply, however I think you'd attract many people if you had a permanent sticky post at the top or a link in the side bar to a "best episodes" post where people could contribute their all-time favorite episodes. Perhaps the sticky post description could contain a list of all of the episodes ordered by comment upvotes that was recalculated every now and then?
Jesus - moderating this subverse must take some time, so I appreciate everything you have achieved and made constructive criticism and suggestions only in the spirit of respect for you and the awesome site you mod.
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
I spent 30 mins designing a very rough alternative to your /v/CoastToCoastAM design only because I felt compelled and perhaps you may like to consider some alternate designs even if you hate the aesthetics. Please understand this was a hack-job that took 30 mins and I only hope that it doesn't offend you. I have no fantasies that you will like and you are welcome to attack me personally and take a shit on it because of free speech, however I provided it because you may also enjoy a different perspective.
Here is an animated gif of an alternate title bar graphic.
Here is an image of an alternate, tiled background texture.
I was inspired partially by the CSS on /v/news, with the slow, continuous smooth scrolling title graphics (that scrolls always and not just when the mouse it over)... the gif is too fast and too jerky and only animated to illustrate a point because the graphic should be scrolled using CSS.
If I were to spend more then 30 mins on the tile graphics, I'd choose the images more carefully, make the sequence longer and make the horizontal delineations less noticeable by transitioning between the images organically using waves and flows.

Wow - I really liked the design of /v/seattlesounds and yeah, the scrolling title bar is superb! The design and color scheme of /v/greenbaypackers and how tidy the side bar is looks fantastic too!
I'm surprised that I didn't recognize the HAARP array either and I only now appreciate that I've never seen it because I've only ever heard it discussed on radio.
Now worries!
Peace.

On more piece of feedback: I've noticed it can be difficult to read the comment text that is displayed on the transparent grey background, depending on the underlying gradient. This isn't typically an issue because it only affects the visible root comment of a tree, however it does make text, especially purple links, difficult to discern due to the lack of contrast between text and background. it's more visible with longer comments.
