"Though they're more expensive than other types of low-flush toilets, many consumers believe they'll save more", because they will.
Who's propaganda angle are they pushing here? They said many people's toilets are leaking, which means you can hear it run. They admit it saves water then imply it doesn't.
These toilets, properly maintained, save considerable water. When they are not, you can hear the water running just like the old flapper design. It may be these are more prone to leaking but the toilets remain superior. Contrary to the idiot author.
It's not that there is anything wrong with these toilets. It's that people need to do a better job of maintaining them.

You can't "waste" water. Using a toilet doesn't send water to space, gone forever.

Why the fuck aren't all toilets now being made with a foot-pedal flush? Hell, I bet with a few design attempts, they could put a fucking exhaust fan under the bowl rim, too, with a small duct coming up from behind the toilet that you vet out through the ceiling. Why has actual toilet design not evolved much in 100+ years?

Consider what it would take to keep a fan clean in such an environment. Also, now I have to plug my toilet into power?
There’s nothing really wrong with toilets as they are. Simplifying surfaces so they’re easier to clean is a reasonable step.

The fan could be located up in the duct itself, not the toilet bowl, so that it's not near the toilet/water, etc.

https://dontvis.it/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8790363/Modern-dual-flush-toilets-intended-save-water-waste-BILLIONS-gallons-year.html :
'A bathroom innovation designed to save water is actually wasting billions of gallons every year. '
'But dual-flush toilets are prone to leaks, experts say. '
'Most dual-flush toilets use a drop valve, which sits underwater at the bottom of the tank. '
'Dual-flush toilets are wasting more water than they save, reports UK conservation group the Waterwise Project, which points the finger at frequent leaks and users being confused by the flush buttons. '
'Traditional toilets use a siphon system - the handle forces a high volume of water over a lip down into a tube. '
This has been an automated message.
