I gotta say "no." In my mind, the olympics have always been about athletics. If chess is included, then e-sports could reasonably be included.
Of course, there is always the argument that the olympics is for competitions that do not have a world stage elsewhere. I suppose the up and coming e-sports competitions fill that role, but for whatever reason when I read this article all I could think was "Chess is not a sport."
I love watching e-sports. I play way too much right now, and watching gamers who are in the top 1% do it is something amazing.
However.
The olympics, man. Bodies trained to superhuman levels. People gifted with that one little genetic mutation, that next little step in human physical evolution. Every year, there's one or two that the media and the fans zoom in on. And it's not for their minds, or their personility, or even really their looks. It because of the way they have developed themselves. It's a visual thing.

And then there is chess.
