I absolutely understand. I love to hike and backpack and did a lot of it in scouting but now in college I just don't have the same kind of time. Me and friends have tried to plan trips before and sometimes they work out, sometimes not. Right now the only easily accessible trail that we could go and do are all in the valley and it it is just to hot (the Phoenix metro area).
What kind of hiking did you do? hard/easy/long/short/with family/by yourself/in the jungle the mighty jungle/just outside the city/where at?
I'm an amateur chemist! I bought some rare earth metals, hopefully I can grow some nice holmium acetate crystals (which change color in different lighting).

Kind of - you can purchase premade beehives and packages of bees to get started. It's an off hands hobby compared to most (I spend about an hour a week tending to them). Bees are becoming ever-threatened with the increase in pesticides and invasive varroa mite, so by keeping bees you're not only "gettin honey", but also helping positively impact the worldwide environment.
There's a really fantastic set of carbon fiber dice that I've been eyeing, but they're like $570. As for my favorite dice, it would probably have to be my Chessex Nebulas. They look clear at first, but hold them up to the light, and the light catches the dye in them... Fantastic.
I'm not too good at explaining it, but worldbuilding, at least for me, is building a fictional world for many purposes, including stories, movies, etc. I personally don't create my own world in which I am essentially god, though, but I am attempting to form a pantheon of some ancient gods, among other things.
As for the sax, I normally play whatever I have to play for my HS marching band and on my own time I try to find ballads or epics and such.
I love nature and the water. As such I do a lot of hiking and backpacking as well as just basic camping, and a lot of swimming and SCUBA. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite between backpacking and SCUBA because I love them both so much but they are both in completely different domains.
I am sad right now because I perforated my ear drum diving and can't actually dive for the next month. What actually make me so sad about it is that it cost me a great job opportunity to work in Florida for the rest of summer at a scout camp as a Divemaster. But then it would also be a job and not a hobby so I don't think it would count for the question
I have always dreamt of going on a big hike, that would be awesome and you're doing that right now. You're that person people can't reach because you're either below the surface or in the woods. When a hobby becomes your job you're doing something right!

Promise me that you will use those as decorationes.

If I can make some water-insoluble crystals I just might do that.

That's so interesting! I collect minerals, and I have one called Labradorite which sounds similar to what you're describing.

I just bought heliodors, tourmalines, and synthetic moissanite at the county fair.

I keep bees, and garden...for the bees.

Kinda like a hotel for the bees? Sounds like a neat hobby.

I'm a dice collector. I also play trombone.

That's an unusual hobby! What's your favourite die and why? What's your dream (holy grail) die?

I do some worldbuilding, some writing and roleplay on and off, I play the saxophone, and reading... which probably isn't that interesting.
[–] kjelle [S] ago
What do you mean with worldbuilding? Do you create your own world in that aspect that you're essentially god.
I think saxophone is interesting. What kind of music do you normally play?

I'm a fencer. I'm not very good at it, but it's social and it keeps me fit :)
[–] wadger ago
Does it hurt at all when you get poked?
[–] Prunesquallor 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Not really, unless it's a flick-shot which can sting a bit sometimes. There's enough protective equipment that you'd very rarely feel any pain.

How much would one expect to pay for a decent set of SCUBA gear?
