I'm no expert but wouldn't having a diversified production of natural resources be better than just one main export?

What I'm saying is that if all food was produced locally they could issue as venezuelan 'greenback' for food production and trade that would be regulated by the government so that when someone gets paid they can actually buy food/necessities.

Tying your currency to the value of another currency just seems stupid when you think about it, especially if it's all fiat.

Also US embargoes and santions against Venezuela probably don't help.

If you could get single dollar bills from the country it would be the cheapest way to heat your house...by simply burning the bills.
