As this is a common criticism of network neutrality, I'd like to remind everyone that Internet Service is not a free market. There are significant governmental barriers to entry. Look at all of the trouble Google Fiber has had, and they are one of the richest companies in the world.

So does this net neutrality shit they're pushing help or hurt that?

It doesn't do anything about the monopoly itself, but it does treat some of the anti-consumer effects.

Currently time warner and comcast the largest providers (who just so happen to not compete with each other in a single state/city/town/phonebooth and are TOTALLY not an oligopoly) want net neutrality removed.

They must want to make sure they allow competition to rise or make sure they are not getting every dollar they can from the consumer. What business WOULDN'T do that. Capatilism is based on companies ensuring competition can arise and giving a customer the best deal you can even if you could easily charge them more.

Because we like being able to trust what we buy not to be dangerous. Or do you think every company has their reputation held higher than profits?

Last I checked Deer Park has a higher success rate on water quality than government. How much lead do you think is in it? How much do you think is in standard east coast water? It's a lot.

Their reputation is profits. What is this nonsense about them being mutually exclusive?

That's more true in Canada than anywhere. The milk mafia up here shut every little guy down. Trump is gonna fix that shit though. He's even doing good for Canadians.
