The missing step is that the company lobbies congress to pass a law raising the barrier of entry for new competitors

But of course that new regulation is simply to make the big companies play fair. It's still a free market, just everyone has to play by the same new rule. Just because the old company got to get gigantic before that rule was in place doesn't change the dynamic of fair business.

That may work in the digital world or when you manufacture simple things, but in industries that require millions in initial investment, you will inevitably get a monopoly in any unrestricted market.

Monopolies actually have precious little to do with capitalism. They're a result of statist intervention in the market to create government mandated monopolies (cable companies anyone?).

Why spend your own money when you can lobby the tax payer funded government to enforce you monopoly with a gun?

Not when businesses collude with price agreements. Also what good are lower prices when the xapitalists do it by moving our jobs overseas leaving alot of us with no job or a lesser job that doesnt pay as much?

Also capitism has never succeeded in creating lower healthcare costs. We have always used a profit based system and the price goes up year after year.

A broad blanket statement that capitalism magically reduces costs is an imbeciles argument.
