On one hand I understand why they would be concerned having conventional citizens helping.

  • Safety of the person/drivers

  • Quality of work and potential issue later with foaming or overlays

  • Takes money away from the workers (unions hate this)

But rather than shame and penalize them. Why not embrace the army of citizens literally living all over who are willing to help.

  • Via the city. Sell at reasonable cost bags of (approved pothole filler)[https://www.ezstreetasphalt.ca/] and necessary safety devices.

  • Via the city. Provide resources, how to guides, and instructional videos how to safely and correctly fix a pot hole.

  • Limit citizen help to smaller residential collector roads and side roads. Then the city could focus efforts of large freeways and arterial roads where safety would be more difficult to assure without proper personnel/equipment.

Ya, anything to speed up the work would be great. A lot of those pot holes would eat the entire tire. Some of the roads are so bad you cannot even get around them. It's more like a gutter through the road.

My car cries out in pain!
