Hey folks, Ottawa born Canadian here. Always trying to stay informed about political climate and culture. Love my home city and think Canada is one of the pretties countries in the world. Trying to get a job in youth work.

Assuming Voat works similarly to Reddit, fairly capable with CSS (/r/bioniclelego is one subreddit I did the CSS work for.)

Im going to do an Edit here. I pretty good with CSS stylesheets (what reddit uses, and I assume Voat works the same.) This ability does not mean I am great with creating graphics and images. With alot of the subs I Mod on reddit, Ive done some of the basic images, however more complicated ones have been done by the community (usually a banner contest and such or such)

Edit Edit - playing with CSS on Voat. Its the same, but different. Same CSS, just not use to voat lay out.

Hey everyone, 30 year old Canadian currently situated in Ottawa, but I have also lived in Victoria, Toronto, and Montreal among other places. Currently a manager and trainer for an aerospace company, there I've develop some skills with Adobe so I could make up some graphics if necessary. I've spent my fare share of time on reddit, you can verify my 6 year account at username: UGX, and I'm usually connected and up early so I can catch the west coast even though I'm on eastern time. I've also been politically active since I was 14 and have worked on numerous elections working for Elections Canada, and don't subscribe to party or partisan loyalty. I'm personally more concerned with the current state of journalism and objective reporting. I hope this is the type of individual you're looking for and thanks for voting.

Going to throw my name in the hat. I am one of the top content contributors of all time on Reddit (#124 + my alts) and I haven't even been able to post under my main account for over a year. I also have many of the top 100 r/canada submissions. My Liberal political views have made me a target of r/metacanada, a badge I wear with great pride. I was one of the first users to donate money to Voat and want nothing more than to see this thing succeed.

Edit: I am also online all day everyday.

I found that /r/canada turned into kind of a left wing circle jerk. While i am mostly left leaning politically, i do like to stay informed of opposing views.

After all your fighting against the mods of /r/canada when theY censored your views, i would hope you could be an unbias mod on this community. as opposed to getting your revenge when you have the power.

Based on your dedication, and so we can have a well rounded mod team...

I vote for Harvo

Thank for the 'voat' of confidence. I am completely against censorship of opposing views. Just a quick correction though...it was r/canadapolitics and not r/canada that was censoring my comments.

If you'd like to see examples of my moderation please check out v/joerogan or r/joerogan. As long as you are not acting like a full blown asshole all the time you can say whatever the hell you want.

Yeah, I would steer clear of Harvo. He's never done anything to me, but he has been known to be a little 'unhinged' sometimes to pretty bad extremes.

I became unhinged because assholes like you stick your nose where it doesn't belong.

I don't want to mod. However, I would expect that any new mods will have had some interactions with the community.

I will bring fair penalties for those who support jihadi terrorists, a balanced budget, and prosperity for this subreddit.

Hello everyone, like all of you I've made the jump from Reddit to Voat - with the intention of making it a clean break, and contributing content and effort to Voat.

We all know what happened to Reddit; the mass censorship, the hypocrisy, the mods run amok. When it began, Reddit was something beautiful - chaotic, yes, but that's the nature of the internet. It is a reflection of all of us; all our interests, passions, biases, likes, dislikes, even hatreds. Reddit has come to be dominated by those unwilling to look at the darker aspects of that reflection. But while the law must be observed, freedom and free speech must be the defining traits of any successful community.

Without them, we cannot truly reach our potential. To communicate, to reach each other across social divides, we cannot be stifled by the biases and egos of a few, but united under commonly accepted and vigilantly upheld values.

It would be a great privilege to serve as a Mod of /v/canada. To provide just moderation and watchful stewardship - to be guided by the sole motivation of helping my fellow Canadians to better themselves. Through the free expression of discussions, news and ideas. To have the solemn responsibility of serving what could be a great community, continuing what Reddit began once as a place of free dialogue.

As for my personal background I have a degree in IT, and another in Forestry. I work in Northern Alberta for the provincial government, though I'm so low on the totem pole I'm under ground. It's a beautiful place but I still manage to spend way too much time online - formerly on reddit, now on Voat. My skillset is a blend between technical skills and public relations. As such I'd have the tools to make the most of online resources, while also having a conscientious ear for the wishes and input of our community.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to either reply to this comment or PM me.

Thank you for your consideration. No matter who is elected to the mod team, I'm confident this community will become truly great. It will be a pleasure to work with all of you as we move forward, together.

I'm from Southern Ontario and 25-35 years old. I'm a long time reddit user, new to voat and passionate about music, politics, open communication, and technology. I also have tremendous motivation to improve voat as a resource for Canadians. I have never moderated before, but I would very much like to assist you in moderating the /v/canada subverse. Please review my reddit profile under the same name as my voat account.
I believe this sub should generally allow users to vote for content themselves. Lets not ban / delete submissions and comments unless they break the law. Other then that, as long as the posts or links are somehow related to Canada, mods should allow voaters to control content. Also, a little insight into my motivation. Reddit's /r/canadapolitics sub is full of censorship for no reason other than power tripping mods. I want to assist you in moderating the /v/canada subverse in a way that privileges everyone's unique voice, and does justice to our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hey folks, new to Voat but spent 2 years at ... ah ... that other place and before that admin'd at a couple of discussion forums (mostly political in nature) and ran a political blog for a number of years. My first forum ran on a WinNT box back in the late 90's and things just kept going from there.

I'm 56 years old (yeah I know, I probably don't fit the dominant demographic here either :-) ), currently hanging my hat in Ottawa, have traveled the country from coast to coast to coast, visited every province and territory with the exception of the Yukon (its still on my bucket list) and lived and worked in New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

I'm generally non-partisan and not a member of any political party at either the provincial or federal levels. On some issues I'm small c conservative, on others classical liberal, and on a bunch of stuff I'm full on libertarian. It's not unusual for the devils advocate to take over my keyboard just for the sake of some discussion when politics is involved.

Much of my life has been spent living and working in Aboriginal communities (both Inuit & First Nations) and as such I have a special interest in Aboriginal issues.

Hobbies include camping, fishing motorcycling, and photography and I love talking about all four. Musical tastes run from 80's rock to metal to new country with a smattering of folk.

I'm probably what most would describe as a working class stiff (6:30am - 3:00pm Mon-Fri) looking to someday make it into the middle class - I'd be happy with lower middle class to start.
