Voat disallows content that breaks US law. The US’ slander and libel laws are (thankfully) far more lax than most–if not all–other countries, but retain their purpose: punishable if harm is shown. His statements explicitly misrepresent my person for the sole purpose of defamation of my character (in this case, the “character”–avatar–represented by the username.

There’s free speech and then there’s truth. Truth is more important than freedom. Hypothetical: An event happens, let’s say something goes “wrong” in the government for those in power. It leaks out. People start to post it here and are posting hard evidence of its factuality. Then along comes the Shill Brigade, who not only drown it out by a hundred times the number of links on OTHER topics, but also by posting a hundred times the responses to the posts of the event, saying it’s a lie. Whenever proof is posted, they reply, “It’s a lie,” and refuse to engage, enumerate, or respond.

But that’s fine, right? Being paid to shill here, for the express purpose of hiding truth, is fully within the rules of the site. Because as long as they’re not threatening to kill anyone (and are just actually killing them, behind the scenes), they can say whatever they want. Even if it’s a proven lie. And especially if the lies are posted for the purpose of hiding truth. And at no time do they have to prove their points or refute anyone else’s claims.

Right?

Which isn't real, mate. It's just a character. You'd have to prove it caused you material damage, which you couldn't because the Voat User Agreement forbids sharing of personal information that could link your avatar to a real life identity.

Truth is more important than freedom.

In commerce, truth is sovereign. Commerce can include the exchange of ideas and opinions.
