That is what I use for the base of my fondant too.

My grandmother made a fondant using vanilla and god knows what else that was just pure opium. I'd scrape the cake off and savor it. So damned good. But she had Grandmother magic too.

Homemade stuff is far better than the mass produced Wilton stuff. The 3 main ingredients for Wilton are, Sugar, Corn Syrup and Palm oil.

My neighbor loves the fondant I make, there is never any of it left on her plate lol

Jesus, not even vanilla "flavoring"? That's weak.

Amen to homemade stuff, it's worth the extra effort, it really is. One remembers those cakes. I lost my grandmother about 20 years ago and I still can vividly remember some of the tastes and smells of her cooking. And I'll be damned if I can replicate the best of it perfectly. She had a meatball recipe that was seasoned in a way I cannot for the life of me figure out, it was unique to her, and very distinct, and also incredible, and just defined every one of our big family holiday gatherings. There was some seasoning or ingredient or combination that I have not figured out - probably something simple, because she never went for anything overly fancy, but it was good.
