Thank you,! And I feel the same way about flowers as cake decorations. This is the second cake I've done with fresh flowers and I think it's my decoration of preference, they just look so nice and fresh!

I just bought a bunch of organic flowers from a small farm that were deemed "okay to accidentally consume...." I know some of them were carnations, and I think the orange ones were marigolds but I honestly am not sure!

I actually wanted to candy them but the family member who requested the cake admitted that most people wouldn't eat them anyways so I didn't bother :)

Those are all safe for cakes as long as they are organic :o) so awesome job on the choices!!

I can honestly say I have never candied a flower in my life or tried one for that matter - are they good?

Thank you! I'm getting better with each cake I make. I'm hoping by the end of the summer I can master working with fondant because I'd really like to make those smooth-looking cakes some day. For now I'm sticking to teeny tiny decorations though; every time I roll the fondant out it's uneven!

Have you tried making your own fondant? It taste better than the store bought stuff. Also, you need a fondant rolling pin. They usually come with spacers so everything stays even.
