I stumbled across this subverse clicking the 'randomise' button and I had to stop in and say...wow! This is stunning! Vellum is one thing I've never written nor drawn on, but I imagine it's a tricky medium. Can I ask what inspired you to learn this art? Any photographs of the quill by chance?

Thank you. Its nice to be noticed. Vellum is difficult, as it has a very uneven surface, and must be prepared with sandpaper.

I learned this in my seminary because I wanted to.

Here is a link to the quill, its a plastic nib that goes on the end of a pen. To fill it, I use a small glass jam jar as an ink dip.

Gorgeous! How long did it take for you to become so proficient?

Took lessons for a few months and spent my free time practicing. After a few months I graduated to larger and larger pieces of vellum (the bigger the sheet is, the more expensive) till I got confident enough to simulate an actual passage.

You can see where I had to cut away the letters with a razer in some places. Each line represents about an hour of time.
