And then they end up drowned or with broke legs. I go on some gnarly kine adventures, but I'm well aware of the danger and take precautions.

I've hiked trails like that. State doesn't want to spend tons of money rescuing idiots. Hawaii law is set up so the cost of rescue can't easily be passed on to rescuee. There have been attempts to fix this, but as we all know, Oahu idiots are fucking things up. The trail is remote and DLNR doesn't have as many bodies to tend these trails as people think.
Just go hike somewhere else, before you catch some die.
