27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (Romans 3:27 KJV)
Paul is teaching about how we are justified through faith in Jesus. The reason that we can not boast about our being justified is that it is a Grace gift from God, and not something that we have earned. We were justified and saved entirely by the Grace of God, and it had absolutely nothing to do with anything we did. This is a hard thing for a religious person to comprehend, as they want to think that all their works, and living holy, is what God is rewarding them for. But it is entirely by the Grace of God that we are saved (Ephesians 2:5), and not by works or things that we have done, therefore boasting is excluded. God didn’t send Jesus to die for us, because we were so lovely, but because He is Love (1 John 4:8). Thank God we don’t get what we deserve, or we would all go to hell (Romans 3:23). Praise God for His mercy and grace!
This verse tells us that faith is governed by law. This is referring to the fact that God has certain laws that have been established, like the laws of gravity and electricity, that don’t vary, and are always on and never off. Very few people seem to realize that God has established laws that work in His Kingdom, the same way that the natural laws work on earth. Since faith works by laws, then it is vital that we find out what those laws are, so that we can take advantage of faith, the same way we abide by the natural laws. This law of faith was apparent when the woman with a issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus clothes and was healed (Matthew 9:20-21), as the virtue flowed out of Jesus without Him even knowing it beforehand. The woman had followed the laws of faith to get her healing. You need to study the Word of God to find out just how faith works, so that you can tap into it for your healing and other gifts. Faith is what brings the spiritual gifts, provided by grace, into the physical arena. Thank you Jesus for our gifts!
