22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: (1 Peter 2:22-23 KJV)
This is speaking of Jesus, and He had no sin in His life. What a tremendous testimony to the fact that He was God in the flesh, as us humans all sin (Romans 3:23). By being completely sinless, Jesus was able to be the perfect sacrifice that was required to atone for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). If He had not been sinless, then He would not have been any better than the rest of us, and would not have been able to take our sins off of us. Thank you Jesus! He also spoke no guile, or falsehood, in His speech – wish we could all be that way.
Jesus did not revile back at people, but suffered all the abuse that the world put upon Him. He left it up to God to defend Him, and when He comes again in judgment, He will make right all the wrongs that came against Him. If we are to be Christians (little Christ’s), then we should do as Jesus did, and leave all the revenge up to God (Romans 12:19). We humans tend to want to strike back at all the wrongs that come upon us in this life, but we need to let God defend us, as He will do a much better job than we could ever do. Give it all to the Lord. It takes us dying to ourselves, and Jesus living through us, to enable us to be like He is. In our human ability, we are just unable to love our neighbor as ourselves, as He told us to (Matthew 22:39), as it is just humanly impossible to do so. Let the love of God flow out of you toward others, and truly be a little Christ!
