21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (Colossians 1:21-22 KJV)
To be reconciled is to bring back into harmony with God. Notice it was us, in our own minds that became enemies of God, as we exalted our own wisdom above that of God’s wisdom, and therefore became separated from God. Since the problem was in our own minds, then the process of renewing our minds is the way to overcome being enemies of God in our minds. We renew our minds by studying the Word of God, and planting His Words in our minds and hearts (Romans 12:2). There really is no other way to walk close with God, except through the study of His Word, the Bible.
When Jesus died for us He took our sins and gave us His righteousness. Being born again, we now have the very Spirit of Jesus living within us (Galatians 4:6), and our Spirit is as righteous as Jesus is (1 Corinthians 1:30, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 4:24). Since God is a Spirit (John 4:24), He looks at us in the Spirit, and sees us as righteous as Jesus is, thereby bringing us back into fellowship with Him (John 17:3). Praise God for His wonderful plan of salvation.
