A lady at work helped me learn to do my hair. I have never had my hair done ever and had no idea how to do it. I tried for a week to do it correctly but kept failing and looking dumb. So this morning she came in an hour early and showed me what to do. She is very busy, but took the time to do it, and she made me feel pretty for the first time in a while.

And I know I'm not the definition of pretty for everyone, but personally, I felt good and am grateful. To her it was a "small deal" because she is used to doing it, but it meant a lot to me. So I guess the point is, a little effort on someone's part can mean a lot to someone else.

I was worried you said "pretty" but reading and looking let me understand. Everyone likes to feel well-groomed. Even cats -- especially cats. It's an important indicator of well-being, so I'm glad you're on top of this one!

Ha ha, yes, I'm on top of it :) I guess well groomed would've been a better way to put it, but pretty was the first word that came to mind.

There's just something to be said about how you feel when you take the time to get ready in the morning. It can makea world of difference in your confidence for the day.

I always think it's funny the lengths you ladies go to... have curly hair? Spend countless hours trying to straighten it.... Have straight hair? Spend countless hours trying to curl it....

FWIW, my wife has curly. It took a decade, but I finally got her to see the lunacy of spending so much time trying to change something that's a fundamental part of "Her". She also let go of the need to color it at the same time and let the grey start showing (she was ~33 when this started).... her hair has never looked better in terms of health.

I'm glad you feel pretty, just pointing out something I find funny.

It is definitely a lot of work and I'm really unsure if I can do this every day. I was thinking I'd try doing it 1 day each week until I got better at it, and could do it more efficiently, then maybe move up from there. Just being realistic, my mornings tend to be hectic, so I'm not sure if doing it each day is a viable option.

Still it was nice to learn how to do it correctly!

Nope, in NJ, USA. Also, thank you! We came in early - 6am - to do it.
