There are tons of entrepreneurs in low income neighborhoods, you probably wouldn't call most of them successful entrepreneurs.

Small business owner here, I had no help my parents kicked me out at 16 and I haven't seen them since. I'm not what most would consider successful and I really fucking hate the other asshole people my age that "own" business that their parents payed for and they act like they did it on their own. So again another example of hey if you have a bunch of help shit is easier.

This article is nothing but placating garbage. The only figure they use in the entire article is "Data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor show that more than 80% of funding for new businesses comes from personal savings and friends and family." They don't even separate out the percentage of people who used "personal savings" from the number, or how they acquired that money. They also mention having a "pedegree and connections" because, you know, it's stupid to believe people now a days can make connections on their own without a rich family name behind them. Ridiculous and lazy neo-journalism at it's finest!

Persistence in drive, education, and hard work pays off. Not being lazy.

How about common sense? I haven't even read the article yet but this headline is completely correct to me from my experience of the world so far. Half of these rich kids don't even realise they're rich because there's always someone richer. Middle class? Fuck off, compared to 90% of the world that means you're RICH. Obviously nothing is ever black and white and there are some people who manage to make something from nothing but most of the time that I see someone argue against these facts I get the impression that someone is sitting in a nice suburban house in the first world with two cars in the garage typing on their high speed internet completely out of fucking touch with what struggling and suffering really means.

In America you can be lower class and compared to 90% of the world that means you're rich

Great argument for the basic income. I think that's one thing that will come out of the most recent study...those on the basic income are probably more likely to start some kind of small business.
