I live on what should be a quiet neighborhood street. Unfortunately a bunch of asshats have discovered it’s a bypass to the freeway route. But it’s a damned narrow road which winds through tall dark trees. Said asshats have often sped racklessly down the street to the point their tires are squealing in the corners. Kids play in our neighborhood and people walk and bicycle and hike to the forest. I told the. Ops at a neighborhood meeting what I’d observed and said that after all of the complaints we’ve made have come to nothing, I’d start shooting at the speeding bastards.

Good on the cops for taking me to my word and putting one of these horrible trailers across from my house. And it slowed the traffic down - for a while. I think this year I’ll add some speed ditches.

Anyway, these trailers are from Hell, to be sure. But if you live in an area where one is deployed, you’re likely thankful for its effects.

So if you see one of these trailers, and it’s in a residential area, in which you really shouldn’t be speeding, think of your neighbors, and think of your own quiet neighborhood, and slow down a little. That little bit goes a long ways.

Now, of course, if one of these trailers from Hell is parked on a main thoroughfare, well then: expanding insulating foam does a hell of a thing.

You know, asking to have speed bumps added if your street is busy is pretty easy. You get your neighbors together, ask for a traffic study to be completed so it's not you yelling at those damn kids speeding down the street, then make informed decisions. Yes, you pay for the traffic study, and you pay for the speed bumps assuming the study supports it. Don't be that crazy old guy waiving his gun at strangers driving by.

You can buy pre made speed bumps + hardware. I did that for my street, installed at 1 AM. No more issues.

I installed it in front of my neighbors house though, because I didn't want cars actually stopping on front of my house, hearing any noise, and they are liberal hillary supporters.

Not crazy, not old, and waving no guns.

Aware of traffic studies. Unfortunately the politicians and the majority of the neighbors are not in agreement with those of us who live on this particular street. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll try again.

The best way to reduce traffic is let it flow freely as can be. Check out las Vegas traffic documentary's can't rememberthe name of it. It was on cable tv, time Warner. Years ago. Traffic is the result of government interference to flow.

Oh for fucks sake is there anything a fucking liberturd wont try and blame on the government?

You dont think soaring populations, vehicle ownership, vehicle usage within walking distance, and vehicle usage because youre afraid of being mugged by niggers has nothing to do with it? I mean yeah no traffic planning fucks things up, but you know what happens when 'governments dont interfere' with roads? Fucking dumb mother fuckers do things like drive dangerously unroadworthy cars, drink to excess, and actual innocent people get wiped out out of the blue because no cunt wants to do anything about it because 'muhfreedums'

fuck outta here.

You threatened to murder people for driving down a public street? The cops should have arrested you on the spot.

Sometimes this backfires and the existing traffic gets calculated for appropriation if funds to convert your street into wider, safer road so that there's 300x the assholes 2 years later. Personal experience

There's one of these near my house. Speed limit is 35, go 36 and this thing actually shows read and blue cop lights. Really freaked me out the first time.

Haha. That's a good idea. It's harmless, cheap, and is a stronger social signal when it's actually dangerous. Kids walking along the road from school are alerted, as ate other drivers, that there's potential danger. It's up to them whether to enforce.

Plus i can still ignore it if I'm safely familiar with that road and it's ≥35 mph risks / am alone.

Oh great ! This is how people feel, most of the times, speeding tickets are just that, racket!

If speed enforcement had anything to do with safety, they'd write tickets in places where it's dangerous to speed, not wherever it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I love when they sit in the small town area where it switches from 35 to 25.. They are really saving lives there. Fucking scamming sacks of shit.

you want safety cameras? Look to the UK. Theyre actually shutting htem down because they cost more money than they earn. why?

because a) they stand out like dogs bollocks, b) theyre signposted, c) mobile cameras are in big white vans with POLICE written on the back, d) theyre placed at accident blackspots e) people slow down for the blackspot to avoid the fine.... and the black spot becomes... not a blackspot.... because everyone slows down.... and get no fines. And if you MISS the big ass mobile camera, or signs, or big yellow box on a pole... YOURE A FUCKING MORON AND EXACTLY WHO A SAFETY CAMERA TARGETS.

In Australia? No, its all money, theyre hidden around the place and you wont know youve copped a fine until weeks later, and you will struggle to remember, and that is in between all of the false fines that are generated when three cars go through the same speed trap with one of them speeding, they rely on all three cars going 'oh crap id better pay the fine' instead of thinking 'no i was doing 60 and i remember this retard screaming past at 110'

Was this an imposed service, fraudulently proposed as a solution to a fake problem?

Nice reminder how surrounded with bullshit we are. Examples abound! Don't know anything on this, but it's funny as is.

Edit: Who downvoted, without comment, the only definition of racketeering I could guess applied? We don't know why a harmless speed display, possible logger, qualifies from this picture. Hence my question. There's not enough information to form a conclusion, but can only deduce the remaining ways it obviously isn't a racket. Y'all dumb. This is still a hoot.

These get leased without bids to solve nonexistent problems on dead end streets too. Like signage or barricades. They're needlessly expensive when rented. But that's only one way I've seen these qualify as a racket somehow. I like the devices, and they work better / cheaper than speed cameras to control speeding per every municipal study.

In my town they leave a truck hooked up to them because of this reason.

Funny.

  1. Isn't this just a speed notice not a ticket machine?

  2. Guy has a hyphenated name.
