The only thing that's senseless is assuming this was a senseless, random act of violence with no motive. Safe to say a motive would be pretty obvious given any description of him whatsoever, but apparently that's too much to ask. At least they shot him. Now we can go back to not learning any lessons or noticing any patterns until the next "senseless and random" knife attack occurs.

It's important that we care about the feelings of people who look and act similar to murderers. We wouldn't want to care about the lives of the people they murder.
