Gotta vent because frankly I'm at a loss, or going crazy. Has anyone else noticed so called "big box stores" (aka department stores), have gone to shit? Yes I realize online shopping is a thing, I still preferred to shop at an actual store for some things.. lately though, what the fuck.
Today for example at Homedepot I knew what i wanted but didn't know what they had in stock so I asked. You'd think a store like that was used to everyone from newbs to contractors yet the reaction I got was literally telling me they don't sell what I was looking for. Which was steel pipe! Fine, found it myself..
Went to pay.. what the fuck #2 - Automated checkouts everywhere except one way the hell at the other end of the store. Fine, walked, waited in line and paid.
What the fuck #3 - Some how paying at her cash was an inconvenience to her because she was pissed. Made what is a rather ironic comment about not liking the automated checkouts because it kept real people employed.. By the time it clicked in her numbscull she's being disrespectful, I'd apologized for upsetting her and was gone.
It's an epidemic in retail though. I've actually looked up prices of items at the store, in front of employees standing around doing nothing. They were paying more attention to what I was doing online then realizing their own incompetence. For what it's with I went to the same store a few days after and could tell someone noticed because their behavior was completely different (Bestbuy).
Third and final example - been shopping for another PC. Long story but the racism I got was insane. Many of the electronic / computer stores around here hire only asian / imports. Seriously there were locations that didn't have anyone who spoke fluid English. Again I knew what I wanted and knew they had it in stock yet was lied to. Had a coworker who is asian buy the same damn motherboard at the same location I was told didn't have one in stock.
tl;DR - what the fuck.
Edit: Formatting.. reverted on refresh? Weird.
