Wow, this is some fucked up shit right here. Before I even saw this thread, I posted this in reply to @stoic, relevant quote:

As an aside, I also strongly suspect that there are private groups of powermongers who have an unhealthy interest in being moderators, collecting subs like pokemon cards, and creating some kind of IRC-driven cabal. On a wider scale, this is what worries me more than anything - this is exactly what happened to Reddit, although having been on the internet for the last 20-odd years it's about as surprising as eating food and a turd coming out your ass. Having these kinds of people wield any power over this place is a fucking terrible idea.

I don't pay all that much attention to names so much as comments, and I remember only a selection of the ones I even notice, but I do recognise some of the names banned and am confident they are not just asshole troublemakers. This is frankly outrageous.

The voat cabal is already metastasizing on IRC and elsewhere. This is why I asked Atko not to give power mods even more power.

The Cabal is the one thing more dangerous to the health of the community than SRS/SJWs. Unchecked friendships in positions of power inevitably lead to cronyism and corruption.

Social media was a joke in corporate board rooms until they started to realize just how powerful it is, now it is their goal to use and control social media not just by having trolls inserting their agenda into threads but to have the trolls be the moderators, they also want to close the truly independent sites by manipulation of the internet through ISPs.

Wait, you were calling all the /v/AskVoat mods a SJW conspiracy, but you nor anyone else has been banned from here. What do we have to do with this?

Went back to reddit, voat is no different.

So much for "serious discussion".

It's kind of funny, while I figured @she to be a pretty obvious SJW I didn't actually find her moderating behavior all that questionable until the big thread deletion. This, on the other hand, is some pretty blatant bullshit, and the whole thing has the appearance of a circle of wannabe powermods forming. Whether that's actually the case or not is ultimately irrelevant, as a lack of trust between users and mods can only foment this kind of drama.

Moderators need to calm their tits and focus on nurturing and growing their communities.

@Atko sums it up pretty well right there. Some mods need to start asking themselves why they are moderating, and start being honest with their userbases about it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to state once again that I doubt She let her being a SJW influence her actions as a mod. The thread she deleted was because of a lacking '?' mark (which is pedantic, unwelcoming and contrary to what I believe consitutes good mod behavior). It displayed incompetence, but no one has been banned from this sub and no one has been censored from speaking their mind on AskVoat. Now, to me at least, people are trying to use this censoring on /v/SeriousDiscussion to legitimize their witchhunt on the mods of /v/AskVoat. I'd like to hear what you think @nomerasques, @Electrolumus.

I suppose my question in this case, is has @She owned up to this being an actual mistake, apologized, etc.?

The few posts I have seen from her on the subject have been nothing of the kind, but perhaps there is something that I missed. Doubling down and trolling your userbase in response does nothing to calm things down.

I don't know the backstory but if the mods banned them only because they disagree with their options that is complete bs and the mods should be removed.

I had no idea. @atko, please remove them as moderators. They clearly go against everything voat stands for.

You forget that the SRS types are exceptional at brigading and constantly in search of subs to take over.

This would be handing them a loaded gun. They'd immediately use it to oust mods that didn't submit to them so they could take over more subs.

I still disagree with this, the community should be allowed to get loud and ideally Atko will use good judgement and a heavy hammer.

@atko - last one I swear: https://voat.co/v/SeriousDiscussion/modlog/deletedcomments Did these comments REALLY need to be deleted? Is this REALLY the purpose of mods?

I really want to see your site take off in a big way. You have worked really hard. All I am seeing is reddit mods creating reddit 2.0, which is not what you want.
