I don't just mean here on Voat. I mean out there on our streets too. I see the two as one in the same that are merely reflections of the other from its own unique perspective.
It seems as though so many of us hold on to our ideas and thoughts as if they were literal parts of us, as if to disagree with an opinion is somehow synonymous to telling someone that their arm doesn't actually exist. We sometimes try to prove our point is right over the other by attempting to be the loudest, the meanest, or most brazen. Why is it so hard for us to really just hold a civil discussion, hear each other out and simply agree to disagree?
It's a rhetorical question almost, but I mean it in sincerity. I have seen a lot of respectful dialogue between users here since I joined, but in the past week I'm noticing a great many of us slipping into old habits. I'm curious about the thoughts of others, and I want to know, what do you think about all of this?
