I would like to see a system where we vote for the moderators based on their respective contributions to a subverse. And every once in a while we revote so that moderators are accountable to the general populous of their subverse.

Thus allowing unpopular opinion subverses to be taken over and destroyed for going against the hive mind. What a great system.

Yeah, it's not an invasion proof system. Then again I fucked up by thinking that people would leave each alone.

But at least it's governed by the hivemind, not a small circle of shadowy powermods.

Once in four months? (: We could call them "President of the Subverse". They could campaign and stuff too!

Yeah, there is a reason why we have a similar system in place for politicians and for other public officials. In theory it should work, and as a failsafe we should also have it where there are people who moderate moderators. These sub-mods would have no power in terms of the subverse but could watch and suspend mods.

That seems like a fair idea.

Kind of like what @Haredeenee did in /v/canada https://voat.co/v/Canada/comments/156727

We certainly have to be careful to not repeat what happened on Reddit, but they required assistance from the admins and owners to fuck that place up. As long as the folks running Voat don't fall to the dark side, I don't think we need to worry.

Delete posts by bots, manage the CSS, sticky posts/announcements when appropriate. Where applicable, mods should deal with outside brigading. Delete posts that are expressly and unequivocally in violation of Voat's TOS or illegal. Other than that, 0 comment deletion, 0 post deletion of any kind. Downvoats are the preferred method for weeding out content that doesn't belong in a sub.

I think they should only delete off topic or spam threads and ban overly spamming users. Spam isn't an extreme opinion, it's only posting porn in a subverse for mom talk or posting tacos on a hotdogs only subverse. Yeah?
