Internet communities don't work as democracies, a strict technocratic dictatorship is usually better as things get dealt with faster by more qualified people who don't necessarily have the skills to deal with unwarranted backlash. These people need to be as obscure as possible if they are to retain their sanity, the exact opposite method democracy encourages.

You'd assume wrong, fame does bad things to a person in power; the less they are in the public eye, the more likely they'll do better at their job.

At the moment there is no way to demod a user, if they got powerhungry we could do that

This should be a set of subverse/mod tools that a community can opt into. It would also be helpful if there was a tag in the subscribe pages that identified the government model of the subverse (dictatorship, monarchy, democracy, anarchist) so folks know what they are joining.

Most of us don't follow the mod sub's and are largely ignorant until after something has gone wrong. I'm not going to join the brigade, but I am concerned that /u/she has requested to take the reins of AskVoat. A major change; rules, policies, principle mod should require a weeks long sticky to ensure the community has a chance to voice concern.
