Seems like the doctors have done their thing. Parents don't seem to have forced this on the kid.

Parents are supportive and standing by the kid

Abuse level = 0

Child abuse as defined by the law:

  • "Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation"; or

  • "An act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm."

So no.

In detail I would like you to describe how the parents are harming their child.

Provided it's accompanied by close scrutiny from psychiatric professionals, I wouldn't say so no. I'd say it's more abusive to ignore the issue or attempt to suppress it.

Also, I find it troubling that this was deleted. It may have been unpopular but it follows the spirit of the rules.

No, I cannot believe this is child abuse. While a child can often not be held completely accountable in the same manner as an adult (thus limits on a child's consent in contract law, etc.), the parents seem to be acting in her best interest in this case. Judging by the video, the girl has identified as such for at least four years (she is 11 in the video and 7 in the video-within-the-video, though the long hair may suggest that she has identified as a female for even longer). I don't think it could be said to be a phase.

I must admit, though, that it is mildly heartbreaking to see. While I don't think it is malicious for the parents to allow her to pursue a more feminine appearance and biology given her consistent, sustained identification as a girl, I do worry that there maybe some hopeless optimism on her count. They allude to how she finds it disheartening that she knows she'll never be fertile as a woman, but I can't help but have sympathy for her as she will--I believe--inevitably find that many men will never accept her fully as a woman.

And I wanted to be a dinosaur when I was a kid. My parents didn't let me get my teeth sharpened and scales implanted into my head. You can't buy a beer until you are 21 because your brain isn't fully developed and it could impact your growth, but you can decide you want to pump your body full of hormones and it's okay?
