Is one load enough to slick your hair back? Or do you need a friend?

Where do you get it? Down at the bus station bathroom?

I like to bounce around between the suave matte styling paste, mitch clean cut medium hold, and ogx thickening citrus mint texturing paste. You can get all except the mitch product at walmart or target

As mentioned, the purple axe stuff works pretty well. I guess it's pretty popular too -- the Walmart near me was always out -- so I use the old spice pomade because I like their deodorant. It works well for everyday use but my hair is so curly, wavy, and coarse it's tough to get it to slick. For the business side part type look, I would recommend Layrite original hair pomade. Really heavy stuff, ridiculous hold, be careful not to put too much in even damp hair or it WILL get hard like a brick. My barber uses it. Unless your hair is thin and straight, it's going to be hard to get the slicked back look though.
