If it isn't illegal then it's not something we should concern ourselves with.

The whole point of voat is freedom of speech. You can't just take it away from certain groups that make you uncomfortable, because then it's no longer free speech.

Block the subverse and forget about it.

Just playing devil's advocate but preteens are just pictures of preteens, nothing inherently sexual or anything immoral. Jailbait is sexual by nature as, it's only jail bait if you have sex with these underage girls. Plus jailbait can get a little more arrousing with the pictures themselves.

Because the /v/jailbait and /v/truejailbait mods were failing to remove illegal content. While I find the content distasteful, a quick look shows that the the mods of /v/preteens have been policing their sub and properly removing any illegal content.

That's the whole point of Voat. We can't arbitrarily ban a sub because someone personally finds it disturbing... It's a safe haven for freedom of expression.

But Voat does draw the line at illegal content. And that sub walks a very fine line between legal and illegal.

OK, so just looked at the sub...

I'm all for free speech. I'm also not a lawyer, but the content certainly looks... questionable. If it goes any farther, I don't want Voat to get in trouble.

Look man, I hate it too. But it's not illegal.

It's definitely weird gross and fucked up, but not technically illegal. There's nothing we can or really should do... Yet.

The mods actively watch for anything breaking the rules. It may seen questionable, but everything there is technically legal.

@Atko and @Puttitout are surely keeping a very close eye on content that is risky to them personally as the owners of the site. I'm sure they have legal advice on the matter to protect themselves.

afaik technically jailbait pictures are not illegal , I may be wrong though. /v/jailbait has been banned.

Huh, I wonder why it was banned. Is there a story behind it?

Block it and move on. It's not illegal so it won't be taken down. It was also discussed yesterday.

Don't look at it if you don't like it. Just because you have a "feeling" about something doesn't mean that it is illegal or wrong.

Maybe not illegal. But a lot of people would consider it "wrong".

Because the subverse owner takes care to stay legal. It's discussion but unless it's illegal there's no justification to ban it.

If we start banning stuff that isn't illegal, then we lose the whole point of not being reddit.

That is true. I guess right and wrong is subjective. This just makes me a little uneasy

Exactly, free speech is only free speech if you don't censor things you don't personally like.

It exists for the same reason v/niggers, v/fatpeoplehate or v/technology exists. Someone wanted to make it exist. It doesn't really matter if some people are displeased by it and might even be designed to displease some people.

If you're very concerned you can always watch for illegal content and report it. Personally I prefer to stay away, because visiting the sub is an entirely optional experience in voat and you have to make the deliberate decision to go there.

Asking admins to curate this sort of shit is a bigger threat to the site than the sub. It's already been determined that they don't have the resources to work here full time, and it's the kind of thing that eventually gets used to smother a site, with boundaries for what makes people uncomfortable ever expanding. After all, if they've gone so far, why not just a bit more? Repeat ad nauseam and you might as well be in reddit or even in freethoughtblogs.

I think it goes

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it

I don't have to like the toxic shit he posts.
