I feel that most people who are pro-Trump are very anti-immigration, and they hold that above being pro-privacy at this time.

I think the real answer is that voat is devided into two types of people. Most of the Trump supporters are authoritarian at heart if you have any conversations with them. The problem is they know not to attack privacy on an internet forum.

So I think you have a group that is pro-Trump and dislikes privacy only a little except when it's their own privacy. Then you have people who are pro-privacy but know they aren't going to get anywhere discussing Trump on this site. Then you have people who don't mind a few downvotes and properly rail against him and the fact that he's a bad candidate on most issues.

The pro-trump people are single issue voters, race, that just need a place to have a circle jerk that they can't have on reddit. They don't really care about the other aspects of the site or other issues that voaters care about. But that is a consequence of having proper free speech on a site inside of an internet that doesn't support that concept.

Yep. I'm ok with a little jackbootism if immigration gets dealt with.

There's never "a little" jackbootism.

[–] Super_Cooper 2 points -1 points (+1|-2) ago

This is the main reason. If we don't deal with immigration the Democrats will win every single election from here on out and America will be a third world shit hole just like every other nation in the Americas aside from Canada. No other candidate is willing to deal with immigration the way it needs to. Donald Trump doesn't need congress to enforce immigration laws. He can simply start enforcing the laws already on the books with resources already available.

I'm not pro Trump. I want everyone in DC to understand that I'd rather vote for an aggravating reality TV star than let them force me into my only choices being Clinton or Bush. Just be real for a minute. None of these people are going to do anything they promise on the trail anyway. Nobody is going to build super walls or giving away free college educations, it's just platitudes. I'm supporting Trump to send a message to the people that think left and right are the only choices. Edit: 5 rewrites later I'm still not happy with the post.

Beautifully said. Trump's campaign reminds me of how Carlin talked about being born in America, having a front-row seat to the greatest freak show of all time.

Sit back, enjoy the ride. Everyone is on it.

We do have about zero chance of having to vote for a Bush at this point. He is set to win about zero states. The ultimate way to be non-establishment is to have different policies. Trump doesn't really do that. On policy he pushes the same attack on encryption and pandering to the NSA that the main stream media does. You should look for someone who's going to shink government if you really want to piss people off.

I feel as you do. I'd like to think that the majority of people are like this, but that's probably just confirmation bias and it's a daily struggle to keep it in check. That said...

I'd rather Trump be the LAST president of the United States than Hillary Clinton be president at all.

Luckily Bernie Sanders is giving it all he's got with a huge army of support pouring out of the woodwork every day. I'd like to remove hillary as a threat entirely even before the big day. But if I go to the ballots and the only non-trump choice is "chillary", I will vote for Trump out of sheer spite. I will vote for him, and hope he wins, not because I agree with him or anything like that; no, it'll be just to watch this shit hole country burn to the ground. I'll fuck off to iceland and watch from there.

On a side note, this is the same reason I will vote AfD in my country. I want them to kick the establishment in the ass.

Most people who are pro-Trump do it just to spite the leftists.

That seems like such a childish thing to do though. Do you really think that Trump-supporters are that childish? I hope that they have another, better motivation...

American politics in general is childish. It used to mean something. Now it's a game played by the rich and powerful to see who can become more rich and powerful.

The leftists have been on an unchecked rampage for years, and there are no signs of them stopping. You cannot argue with them, because they will always hold the moral high ground.

You might call it "childish" but really is there any other option?

The only real alternative, but he doesn't have enough money to take on the Establishment. They've fought against libertarians for ages. After watching Ron get screwed for years, I'm ready for a self-funded blow hard to tear the system down.

why do we have to throw out the baby with the bathwater? can you honestly say theres a politician out there that you agree with every single thing he says? to me its a temporary precaution to combat terrorism, which is a very real threat as seen by ferguson only a few months ago. i like his stances on a lot of things more than i dislike his stance on one

I've heard some claim he's just beating the anti-privacy drum to keep the Establishment off his back, but that sounds like delusional wishful thinking to me.

Yeah, Trump has a long history with the establishment, but he hasn't exactly been trying to pander to them the last time I checked...

[–] Doomking_Grimlock 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

No, he wouldn't. A smart huckster would play as far from his old ties as possible to help bury the lead. Trump is first and foremost a businessman. He is cunning enough to let people underestimate him. Despite his prior failures, he has managed consistently to come out on top. He is easily as duplicitous and suspicious a character as Hillary, but with one added benefit: He is not Hillary Clinton. Arguably, he is an outsider, and that is what the American people want. However, he is not entirely outside the system. He's a very, very wealthy man. He has strong ties in industry and in politics.

What I'm saying is simply that Trump should not be taken at his word, and that his every action SHOULD be questioned and judged fairly, on their faults and merits. Personally, I do not like him. I do not trust him. There's too many red flags for my taste.

Like most groups, boomers are not entirely homogenous. I've met more than a few in the over 40 crowd who know their way around a computer better than some of my fellow twenty somethings. Still, as a majority, you are correct. They do not understand the nature of the beast they are seeking to tame, they don't understand its infrastructure or how it works. They will support Trump largely because he is a strong Corporate figure who will protect them from the scary immigrants and "won't let America be cucked". Truly, I could think of many worse people to see in office, but his stance on privacy matters places me firmly in opposition to trump. I suppose this will be another year where I'll just sleep in on election day.

To be clear, not everyone is pro trump.

I think all the candidates are rubbish.

Rand may become an OK candidate, but he isn't baked yet.

Vost is not unanimously pro Trump, I don't think it is even majority pro Trump. The only reason why I would want to see Trump win the election is if it were to stop Clinton, other then that I would prefer pretty much anyone else running to win.
