I've had this happen to me...

You could try to pull out the broken chunk, but the problem (aside from the initial pain) is that it's very probable that your tooth split through the pulp and into the root. This allows all sorts of bacteria into the soft, rottable portion of your tooth. If you've cracked an upper tooth, like I did, this will eventually develop into the folllowing progression 1) an infection 2) an existence-splitting headache 3) a sinus and/or systemic infection 3) possible blindness when the optic nerve gets involved in the party.

As long as it doesn't hurt, it's not an all out emergency, but get that tooth pulled completely as soon as you can.

Source: not a dentist, but left some problems a tad bit longer than I should have :)

No. Find a dentist in his mid-30s, early-40s who tries to cover up how miserable dental visits are with dull humor to do it for you. When you deny a dentist the chance to bill your insurance, you deny him of one day's worth of a vacation stay in a state on the opposite side of the country. Docs need that money to live better than everyone else, that's why they practice their craft!

If you have the luxury of being able to go to a dentist I would take advatage of it. DIY dental work is the most miserable thing I've ever had to do. I only popped my own abscesses, though.

No. It will be insanely painful most likely. Get to the dentist ASAP. Like tomorrow. Morning.

Well, you can or not as you think best, but you still need to go to the dentist when you can get an appointment. You don't want an infection or a lingering problem you have only hidden temporarily.
