What is the line of reasoning here, lump together all the culture-war divisions as if everyone should do the opposite of what "people in power want" because... of why? If "people in power want" you to be good at your job and earn a promotion, should you go take a shit on your boss's desk and live on the street? This is the same logic that has hoards of brainwashed sjw's turning themselves into obese diabetic unemployed failures who view themselves as sexy counter-culture rebels because of it.

If someone is enough of a gullible imperceptive jackass to have their opinions swayed by a one-sentence rhetorical question that implies the existence of a conspiracy of some sort, then it will be quickly swayed back by the "people in power" when they pound out their next well-graphiced hit piece about how hordes of gay illegal aliens are roaming the streets and staple-gunning burqas to women who leave their houses alone.

Be well-informed, be stoic in response to news-media hysteria, ignore pop culture gossip and manufactured factional drama, evaluate the validity of facts and choose your own well-reason opinions. If you end up with the same decisions that the "people in power want" then fine. I have no intention of shitting on my boss's desk.
