Yes. There should be no special treatment, just because you happened to have been born with a particular skin tone, or cultural baggage.

Reward based on merit, applied equally to all. That is how you build a free and fair society.

I fully support a Meritocracy; government by the most intelligent and talented. A wonderful side effect of this would be that it also neatly removes all religious nutjobs from any position of power whatsoever. They would be a literal underclass, as it should be.

There are plenty of people with "merit" that i wouldn't want ruling anything. I think what you are looking for would be a "noocracy". Then we would need a definition of "wise" that would omit people with PhDs in gender studies, and other soft sciences (unless they were actually wise).

This can only work if it's a democratic meritocracy, which we already have.

Because if you leave out the democratic part, who decides who is the most intelligent and talented?

What we need to do is invest in education and we'll automatically arrive at a democratic meritocracy.

whats to say that someone who has appropriate merits is to benifit society/ communities? having credentials doesnt make someone honest or truthful or empathetic to others.

i dont see the point in having a system where you give a small group of people an extraordinary amount of power of a large portion of society. its not a good idea imo. everyone needs to start taking individual accountability and responsibility, then i think we can build from an individual base to a community base and so on.

Technically and globally speaking, white people are the minority.

Wouldn't a true meritocracy imply a 100% inheritance tax and access to equally good pre-primary education and equal grading standards and equal nutrition and equal extra curicular opportunities...

Oh shit! What kind of world does meritocracy imply?

I don't understand why you are saying that. What is the reason for your statement?

As long as you don't count taking care of people with disabilities (like downs) as "special treatment", I agree as well.

Yes, it bothers me that we don't have a true meritocracy. It goes the other way too though with people gaining enormous advantages by virtue of their birth. I'm not saying that we should tax the rich and give it to the poor, but I do think that having special help for the disadvantaged in our society is important.

That's not to say that we should be admit under qualified people to college because of their race or gender. If you don't make the cut, you don't make the cut, simple as that.

If you want to be truly non-racist then meritocracy would be the system to use.

It's almost like you're saying "life is unfair."

Answer: too fucking bad.

Life isn't about fairness. It's about getting what you worked for.

Identity politics are cancerous and deranged. Doesn't matter whether it's race, gender, age, socioeconomic class, ethnicity, etc. It's all a collectivist distraction from how governments around the world keep grabbing for more power.

it really is silly how americans split their political strength by racial/cultural lines. there is no advantage. these groups have so much commonality of interest. your gov't doesnt care about poor whites or poor blacks or any race in the middle class.

they have a large arsenal of wedge issues carefully crafted and administered through big media to ensure your divided political clout. big banks and McCorporations are bleeding both dry.

Majority-Minority. this is a game a lot of leftists are experts on playing. The problem is that normal and conservative people fall for it. They just accept the 'premise' without questioning it.

There might be some cases where some people get categorized as a 'Minority Group' but certainly not as the left-liberal types decided they will categorize people. Usually by skin colour but even by what kind of sex they have or place of birth etc.

But I'm more fed up with the concept of 'Minority Group' getting acceptance in the first place. I might do that with something like 'Permanent Residents' vs 'Citizens' but I wont do that with someone who's great great grandfather was from Africa and so gets some special category. They did have one. That Minority Group status and category was removed.

yes, but I don't hate them for it. I hate the people who cause them to get special treatment, because it creates a wedge between people.

Yes. But I guess it depends on which groups you are talking about and what kind of treatment, I do think that we should be protecting every one from discriminatory practices and that groups like the mentally handicapped should be getting extra care and some sort of support.

Protection from discrimination can be special treatment.

Firing a black employee is more difficult than firing a white do to the EEOC.

I can get behind this. Hell, I know a huge fucking continent that would be great for blacks to just have.

I'm in a minority group. It's pretty nice to get free shit for something I didn't do. But otherwise yeah, I don't like it in general. I'm all for a meritocracy.
