Wouldn't exactly call myself liberal, but here I guess I'm way to the left. It's a shitshow. I don't really care about the content. I came here to see stuff that would have been deleted or at least downvoted to oblivion on Reddit. It's just sad that just like Reddit when you challenge the narrative you are often downvoted with no intelligent response to counter.

At least you don't get banned or have your input removed for no real reason other than disagreeing.

I'd much rather be down voted than censored but IMO it would be nice to have some more diverse viewpoints here.

Unlike Reddit, you can challenge the narrative at all. I remember before certain communities came here and the Voat narrative was much more liberal, Amalek would get shit on just as much as the people today who don't think the West should exterminate Muslims.

Both situations are either perfectly acceptable freedom of speech, or out of control community censorship.

Amalek was a massive spammer. That was the problem. 10 times the same link in a row takes up all the new page.

Honestly, after hearing so much drama about Amalek, I tried to figure out the story. All I could get were references to him being a troll, with no real details of what's going on. Was it that he was a vocal dissenter to the prevailing narrative?

atleast you're not banned and have your posts removed. What are you complaining about exactly that people disagree with you? Don't compare this place to reddit. It is a bit of an echo chamber because all the people who are censored from speaking on reddit have come here but people will atleast have discussions with you here.

Even this morning the comparison seems valid. In here I argue about people wanting to discriminate based on religion, get down-voted to oblivion. There I argue that some people have had their guns taken away over the last couple of decades, get downvoted for questioning the narrative. And it's not really the votes that matter unless it's just a quick dump of them to hide the comment. It's the lack of actual intelligent replies saying where I'm wrong.

But it is true that the banning and post removals are far less here. And that's a great thing. Seeing some of the mod fiascos, we're well on the path toward that here though.

This is circlejerking. I got my comment buried today for criticizing Bemie Samberg.

This website is largely undecided at the moment, comparing it to reddit is dishonest.

I consider myself a moderate and find the number of wackos on this site depressing. This site definitely took a sharp downturn when r/coontown was banned and the usage of the word cuck on voat skyrocketed.

if you were like me, you never bothered to up/down vote something on reddit when it already had 2,000 upvotes... that isnt true here, if more people upvoated good content, sorted by 'new', it wouldnt be a problem. the "wackos" are unfortunately very vocal... mostly from their posting-bots that run 24/7.... among other issues with tracking urls.... but there are tons of moderates and liberals on voat, if you say something liberal you'll get downvoated, but not to death

tldr; i enjoy a -3 points (+15 l -18)

I really do think Voat's audience is much worse now than it was earlier this year.

And you're qualified to determine if someone is a whacko because why?

Why will people like you never actually address the issue? Coontown may seem insane on the surface but that is only because this whole issue is so insane.

**Black males in this country commit half of the murders and robberies and close to half of the rapes in this country despite making up less than 10% of the population. **

If you don't think that is a massive problem that deserves to be discussed and would rather censor it then you should go look up the word ignorant. The problem with the black population in America is only getting worse and sticking your head in the sand or shutting any discussion around it down by dismissing it as racism is insane.

Did I say I wanted to censor it? If everyone was discussing the topic in a logical and reasonable manor I'd have no issue with it but we both know that is far from the case. And while the banning of coontown seems to have been a turning point for voat it wasn't just a 'critical view' of blacks that they brought, we also now have crazy government conspiracy theories and a rapid hate of all law enforcement too and those topics are what constantly flood subs like v/news. Even when the story being posted is years old, as long as it incites an emotional response it gets up voted.

I'm pretty liberal, except I don't want gun control. At all. But with the two party system we currently have, democrat is the lesser of two evils.

I don't mind circle-jerking now and then, but like your question implies, I don't like that people aren't open to other opinions.

I'm also not clicking on links in /v/news anymore without checking if it's breitbart, which is just as bad as huffpo or daily mail. They are just gross.

I once got lambasted for uploading a news article from dailykos - I know they have a bias, but this was the first place I had seen that particular story, so sue me!

Don't worry about being lambasted. Stop worrying about what other people think. Have your say and if someone unfairly attacks you for it then fuck em.

Honestly, I've kept away from those subverses because titles of posts seem clickbaity and inflammatory, and because I've heard that they can often be shitshows in the comment sections.

I stay here over reddit because I think the attitude of censorship is offensive and results in stupider people since we aren't allowed to see opposing views which could refine or vet our own thoughts. The problem is that the name calling is actually worse here. I love debating Keynesian economics but most of the time I don't get counter arguments and it results in my still feeling bad about the nature of the debate.

I'm with you here. I'd rather be called a cuck or of piece of shit all day here than just have my comments straight up removed on reddit

Yah Voats scewed to the right sure...No fuckin doubt.

Id say voats actually when you start getting into real conversations with people actually skewed less right than reddit is skewed left however. So Voats got that going for it which is nice...

I don't have a problem with voat leaning to the right, it is the sinking into crazy that bothers me.

Yeah I always find this odd too. My mother is quite right wing, votes conservative but is also a very empowered woman who works for a company based in the middle-east. Many Voaters seem to claim that gender equality and racial issues are exclusively the domain of the left which simply isn't the case.

The posts are really whiny about sjws, liberals, minorities, and anyone who disagrees with them is a 'cuck.'

My view of conservatives has decreased immensely as I see them as racist idiots who don't think.

It seems more of a maturity issue, I'd like to know the average age of the biggest contributors of v/news

I unsubbed from them. I don't mind right-leaning stuff when it comes to articles, but when you open the comment section to have a discussion and almost every single comment contains "libtard" or some variation of it, I'm not interested in even bothering to try.
