I didn't feel nervous. I felt angry. I felt sad. I know what anxiety and nervousness feels like, and I really don't think this was that...

Are you on any medication? When my dad was on Zoloft he had issues with inappropriate smiling and laughter.

Nope, no meds. I've never spoken to a shrink or had any sort of counseling.

Maybe you are finally starting to make peace with them in some small way.

I really hope that's the case, because if I'm coming unhinged then it means one of my greatest fears is coming to light: That I'm more like my mother than I ever wanted to believe.

Man my mom does this and she's "call the cops" crazy. She says she's "nervous." Any time anybody hurts themselves, especially when it's serious "will I walk again?" type injury, she starts laughing like a jr. high girl in detention. It means your kids will grow up fast.

Not planning on ever having kids, especially not if I really am going crazy. My mom's insanities were more insidious. You couldn't call the cops because you couldn't prove she was actually crazy. No one believes me when I tell them bout the stuff she's said or done, because she's crafted this mask for the public. Everyone thinks she's just a well-intentioned bitch, but you have to live with her to see behind the mask.
