I'm here because I followed a link from an r/politics thread about the censoring of NSA stories on r/news. I personally still love a lot of the communities on reddit that I am a part of, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to take part in a brand new community whose identity hasn't been set in stone yet. One that sees freedom of speech as its number 1 priority and that is striving to make something awesome. I wanted to help create rather than just consume the culture of a site. Plus here it feels like a little family still and that is pretty neat.

edit: I forgot to answer part of my own question! I moderate /v/SpaceX /v/SpaceColonization /v/Chemistry and hopefully /v/Mars

I am here for similar reasons. I do have some worries that as this site becomes more popular, some of the initial core values (like free speech) will be ignored over time. The same happened with reddit and other sites as time goes on. But for now, I am cautiously optimistic and am willing to give voat a chance.

At least we can try to make it as good as possible for as long as possible.

Currently here because I'm shitting. Other than that, I'm here because I saw a link to /r/redditalternatives and this was the top post. Figured what the hell, I'll give it a go. Not really doing anything to make it special. Just kind of chilling for now. Might start playing along more in /v/writingprompts because I enjoyed it on reddit before it became an add for everyone's blog.
