Because they are too fat to fit in a single one.

I've been told that growing up with three sisters might have been one of the reasons why I'm good at this stuff.

It's fair only to a degree, if they go on a brigading rampage because you voiced an opinion outside of one of those subs, that's not exactly fair.

I disagree.

You can block subverses and users. If someone is brigading, just block them. It's literally that simple.

Also, FPH does not brigade nor have they ever done so. Moderators are very strict on keeping their content in their sub and don't condone brigading. It's just someone using FPH as a smokescreen to be a dick. You can't judge a whole group based on one person's actions.

[–] Sops 3 points 5 points (+8|-3) ago

Why do you even bring this up? Has fph done any brigading here?

And just because one of your comments got down voated doesn't mean it was brigaded.

Have they? I've seen more racists brigading than FPH.

FPH is my favorite, but I have to admit, I totally hate the constant creation of subs. I have never however assumed this was unique to FPH. This seems to be a problem for every niche. My only issue is it dilutes the content. How do I know I'm in all of the subs I want if there are 30 and 3 new ones a week? I want to see the content, but I could be missing out on great shit because it's spread so thin. I had this problem in online games too. Any jackass can create a guild so you end up with 10,000 guilds with 10 people each who can't do jack shit in the game rather than a couple hundred guilds with hundreds of people in them that can actually raid. I always thought the game developers should have a better criteria for guild creation and reject most. In this case, I don't think VOAT should step in, but if there was an easy way to say, "Whoa, that sounds just like this sub over here, REJECTED!" That would be all right.

Oh and shame on you for thinking we would mob your post and downvote you for asking a question about us. That has nothing to do with what we stand for.

That's true, if you have 5 subs and 5 teams of mods, you can certainly break down management tasks into bite size pieces. One giant sub with 5000 posts a day is going to overhwelm a mod team pretty quickly.

[–] Sops 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

The problem with that is what if the moderators of the bigger sub are huge cunts? You should be allowed to start a competing sub.

[–] SilentMaster 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Yeah, I support that, especially if it's a mass exodus and the old sub is left basically abandoned.

Y'know what's sad? Having accounts, we can block those subs. People without accounts? They're stuck with half of their front page being filled with racism and FPH.

And then all he hate subs refuse to hide their sub from /v/all... I can only imagine because they want as few non-account-holders as possible on the site.

Least that's the only explanation I can come up with.

I think /u/kabutunk was pointing out that the built in mechanisms of voat that people are posting about only work for users with accounts. There does not appear to be any problem with free speech in that post. I think you may be confused.

Do you want people visiting Voat, or do you not want people visiting Voat? DNA pool's deep enough, for ya?

Say your hate speech, but there's a difference between free speech and actively attempting to scare away new visitors. And yes, that's what it's doing, not everyone thinks like the members of FPH.

It's called consideration, which far too few people have these days.

Man. Everyone's skin must be soft and pudgy to not be able to handle a little shit. I guess it was growing up on 4chan but y'guys need harder skin to handle the interwebs. Anyone who gets scared away from this kinda shit probably needs to stick to facebook and pinterest.

Best summary ever.

I guess someone has to speak up for us again. Each one has a purpose.

  • fattycant: shameless plug my own sub! pure schadenfreude, watch fat people fail hilariously at things.
  • fatpeoplehate: ranting and openly hating on fat people. cathartic as balls.
  • fatpeoplestories and talesoffathate: stories of actual events. The former contains examples of "fatlogic" where fat people make shitty decisions based on denial and/or pseudoscience and the latter is just stories about fat people being awful somehow. The latter contains a nine-part epic about my ex-girlfriend!
  • fatlogic: less openly aggressive, the fatlogic folks focus on busting "fatlogic" and tend to support repentant fatties, whereas FPH bans you if you are fat or say anything nice to/about a fat person.
  • fphdiscussion: meta threads from FPH.
  • adiposeamigos: fatmemes.
  • thinnerbeauty and fatsoshop: photoshop wizards unveiling what could have been (and might be still) beneath the flesh of obese individuals. thinnerbeauty has actually been flooded with requests from appreciative fatties hoping to see what they can achieve.
  • HAESSuccessStories: Links to news articles where people died as a result of obesity. Sarcastic post summaries mandatory.

Did I miss any? Let me know and I'll add 'em. Some of these may not be on voat, only reddit.

EDIT: as for "dissent," FPH has ALWAYS had a position of "we have our space, leave us alone and we leave you alone." It was Reddit's SJW crowd that poked the bear. as far as spamminess is concerned, merging subs would not result in less posts, so...

What other fph subs are you talking about besides /v/fatpeoplehate? I haven't seen any. If you're talking about https://voat.co/v/all/new then sure you're going to see lots of crazy shit. If so then why are you offended by fph subs but not jailbait subs??

He's right, there are tons. /fph /fphstories /haessuccesstories there are tons with the word fatshion, no idea what those even are. But they all pretty much serve the same purpose with some minor variations.

So much for all those predictions. Seriously, when I can ask questions as fucked up as I do, why would anyone brigade you for asking this one?

You're right actually - most of my questions are fairly tame. I did ask one just before about suicide, and I have asked about agathusia and solutions for overpopulation before. While people have disagreed vehemently on some of these topics, I've never been brigaded for asking.

As a fellow scientist, you seem to be biasing any potential results you could get from your experiment by failing to conduct a blind study (you've pointed out to the subjects what you expect the result will be). Maybe you want to argue that you are testing the impact of pointing these things out, but I don't see an adequate control for your study.
