Circlejerks seem to form here faster and are more persistent than Leddit.

Yes, and I think @atko may make some poor choices in an attempt to cater to the riled up mob.

Still leaps and bounds better than anything the Reddit admins do

Yeah, I saw a question here about why less phones have removable batteries than they used to. A perfectly normal question. The second to top response was:

It allows the NSA to turn your phone on whenever they want to and spy on you.

Goddammit Voat, you took a question that had nothing political in it and had to make it political. Can we have any normal conversation here without blaming something on the NSA or SJW's. I'm all for privacy but Jesus Christ.

I was all over that comment. Got downvoated because people won't even try to imagine the other side, even if it's the truth.

Not to mention the sensationalist bullshit and pure propaganda that gets accepted because they fit the general voat populations narrative. That was one nice thing about reddit, it was diverse enough for shit like that to at least get called out in the comments and supported if a legit point was being made.

I quite liked it when I first went over and blocked the fat hating subs, the only real problem was that it was too small and so content was slow to update. Since then it does seem to have got worse. I think the racists coming over hasn't helped and this whole manufactured drama over that mod is annoying as fuck. It's basically a witch hunt on someone because they think they're a SJW and it's quite sad. Too many edgy idiots and people who will argue all day about free speech and censorship because they want to say things that no right minded person wants to hear (I don't actually think those people should be censored btw but I still don't like hearing them either).

Edit: PM_YOUR_NAUGHTY_BITS comment on reddit

What the hell? This is literally a word for word copy and paste of a comment I made on the voat subreddit on reddit. (and I can prove that account is mine if anyone doubts it)

I'm glad you agree with me but damn dude that's weird just stealing my comment and passing it off here as your own.

Oh I agree with you, I'm just not good with words and just put your comment here. Sorry just forgot

I assure you, most of those who defend free speech don't do so they can say the vilest things imaginable, it's just that those who do shout louder. It's the same issue as feminism, we take the man hating extremists and think that the whole movement is like that.

You might want to check that, I have been staunchly against this witch hunting and I am an 'edgy idiot' racist. You should also check out the mods of /v/fatpeoplehate, who have spoken out against this shit.

And if you don't like what a 'wrong minded person' has to say, a rebuttal would be nice, instead of some PC insults.

I agree. And as a result of this /v/protectvoat has sprung up and is becoming exactly what they claim to be against.

Not much, really. It's quite nice here, and I've met some great people.

But, where Reddit might've been liberal to a fault, Voat seems to be... anti-SJW to a fault, I guess. And I've already had some experience with some not-so-nice people. How about we all just caaaalm down... deep breaths

I'm not sure if there's any correlation between physical communities and internet communities, and there's not enough data points to really say if this is the case, but low population density areas tend to be more conservative and high population density areas more liberal. Reddit is very high population and more liberal, Voat is a much smaller population and more conservative.

Weaponization of "SJW" (not the group, the word) and downvoats.
