Might be an eye infection. Also I think as long as he got his dose of insulin right today any over/under dose would be canceled out, I'm don't know anything about animal diabetes only a little about human.

Did you flush his eyes with regular tap water? Because that might irritate them a bit. Use saline eye drops instead.

The fact that he did freak out about the shot is a warning sign. It might be anything from grumpiness or a skin infection to kidney or liver problems. Just tell the vet about all of it and he/she can take some blood tests and check the skin.

I think he freaked out about the shot because a few nights back when we gave him a shot we did something wrong. We're not sure what. Perhaps we went too deep, or we caught a nerve or a bruise. But he yiped for the first and only time that evening. He's been a little skiddish since, but he's only jerked away once, and that was last night. He was fine this morning, shot-wise.
