If she acknowledges what she has done wrong, she should have a chance to redeem herself. But if she is unable to understand what has happened and why people are upset, then it would be better for everyone (including her) to step down. For her own sake I hope she gets to that conclusion soon.

Sure, communities can have whatever rules they want and people joining those communities should respect them. However, when the rules are abused or seen as stupid by a large portion of the community, the last thing mods should do is trying to enforce their own views without listening to what people have to say. This always ends up badly for both the community and the mods. Especially now when people for quite obvious reasons are afraid of censorship ruining the bastions of free speech.
