It's definitely odd that mods who claim on the one hand that they can't judge whether or not a sentence is a question and thus need a rule requiring a question mark at the end of every thread title seem to believe that they CAN judge whether or not a post is "soap-boxing."

There's obviously no underlying logic there, since a question is a particular sort of sentence, and the qualities of a question (which extend beyond the mere presence of a question mark) are clearly defined, while "soap-boxing" is self-evidently nothing but a wholly subjective judgment based on an ill-defined concept.

I don't know that there's any sort of sinister motive, but the complete lack of any sort of logic troubles me all by itself.

It's obviously them covering their ass after using it as an excuse to delete a thread when it wasn't part of the rules at the time.

SRS is why we can't have nice things.

Looks like /v/askvoat has become the litterbox of this website. SHIT AWAY.

I like it. I come to AskVoat because I like to see people answer questions. Regardless of your ideology, I don't want to see people who just put a question mark at the end of their rant so they can ride it to the front page. It's tacky, and really professional.

i feel like it is a good rule for that sub.

i also feel like your question is a passive-aggressive attempt to circumvent that rule and still soapbox your opinion.

i wouldn't be surprised to see this silly post go.
